For documentation and history writing, but also for organization and identity. Historically and in the present, both locally and globally!

"For more than twenty years, the Amadiba people along the Wild Coast in South Africa have defended their area against various types of industrial encroachment. They have mobilized the population in mass meetings, they have courted the government and local and regional governments and they have gone to court time and again. They have so far succeeded in stopping multinational mining establishments and are currently trying to move a planned highway from the coast. The current battle is about stopping the company Shell from drilling for oil and gas on a coast that is one of the world's oldest preserved nature reserves. Blue Burning is a fascinatingly beautiful film about the wealth of the oceans and popular mobilization against the destruction of fragile environments. The documentary was released in 2024 and is made by Janet Solomon and Viki van den Barselaar-Smith with music by Jonathan M Blair. In connection with the screening, the house's board member Eva Nikell gives an introduction to the film and talks about her visit to the east coast of South Africa."
